Dear Candor Families, Faculty, and Staff,
I want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation for your patience and understanding during the recent extremely cold temperatures. These conditions presented significant challenges for our transportation department, and we are grateful for the support we received from our parents and families.
Last night, we made the decision to implement a 2-hour delay, allowing time for temperatures to rise and ensuring that our buses were running properly. Our dedicated transportation team, including our mechanics, drivers, and aides, arrived early this morning to prepare all buses and ensure safe transportation for our students. Although they were able to get the buses started and running, we encountered unexpected mechanical issues related to the extreme cold as we began our morning routes. As always, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority, and the uncertainty and possibility of having a bus full of children disabled in this cold made it necessary to cancel school.
We recognize the impact this decision has on our community, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these unavoidable circumstances.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Brent Suddaby, Superintendent
